Marathon du Mont-Blanc

Marathon du Mont-Blanc - 25th to 28th June

The season begins with one of the most prestigious trail running events in the world: the Marathon du Mont-Blanc. With multiple race distances - including the demanding 80km event - it attracts elite athletes and passionate runners from across the globe.

Courses wind through alpine trails, steep climbs and breathtaking viewpoints, all starting from the heart of Chamonix. Even as a spectator the energy in town is infectious, with crowds lining the streets and celebrating every finisher.

Arc'teryx Alpine Academy - 2nd to 5th July

The Arc'teryx Alpine Academy returns for its 15th edition, offering a unique opportunity to learn directly from world-class mountaineers, climbers and guides.

Participants can join clinics covering everything from glacier travel and rock climbing to hiking and trail running techniques. It’s a rare chance to build real mountain skills while exploring one of the most iconic alpine environments in the world.

Climbing World Cup

Climbing World Cup - 10th to 12th July

Chamonix also hosts a stage of the Climbing World Cup, transforming the town centre into an open-air arena.

Elite climbers compete in speed and technical disciplines, delivering fast-paced, high-intensity action. Whether you're a climbing fan or just curious, it’s an exciting spectacle right in the middle of town.

Bastille Day Celebrations - 14th July

Mid-July brings Bastille Day, France’s national holiday. In Chamonix the celebration includes live music, festivities and fireworks illuminating the mountain skyline.

It’s a lively and distinctly French moment in the calendar - where locals and visitors gather to celebrate together in the valley.

Cosmojazz Festival

Cosmojazz Festival - 20th to 25th July

The Cosmojazz Festival offers something truly unique: live music performed in spectacular mountain settings.

Concerts take place across the valley often at altitude, blending jazz with international influences. The combination of music and landscape creates a relaxed yet unforgettable experience that captures the spirit of Chamonix.

Fête des Guides

Fête des Guides de Chamonix - Throughout August

One of the most meaningful events of the summer is the Fête des Guides de Chamonix, which takes place around the valley in mid-August.

This year will mark the 102nd edition of the celebration, honouring the long-standing traditions of the Compagnie des Guides de Chamonix. It’s a deeply rooted cultural event that reflects the valley’s mountaineering heritage.

Events include; religious ceremonies, parades, the induction of new mountain guides and celebrations of alpine culture. Raising funds for the mountain guides’ relief fund (supporting guides and their families).

UTMB

UTMB Week 24th to 30th August

No summer in Chamonix would feel complete without Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc known as UTMB.

Held in the final week of August this world famous race covers around 170km through France Italy and Switzerland before returning to Chamonix.

The atmosphere is what makes it special. The town fills with spectators and runners are cheered through the streets at all hours. Even if you are just watching it is a powerful way to experience the spirit of the mountains.
