The Vallée Blanche is one of the most famous off-piste ski descents in the world, offering a unique high-mountain experience in the heart of the French Alps.
The adventure begins with a cable car ride to the Aiguille du Midi, reaching an altitude of 3842 metres. From here, a narrow ridge leads onto the glacier before the 23 kilometre descent unfolds across vast snowfields, weaving between seracs and crevasses, all set against the dramatic peaks of the Mont Blanc massif.

The ever-changing terrain ensures that no two descents are ever quite the same. The Vallée Blanche is not a marked or patrolled piste but a high-alpine, glaciated environment requiring careful preparation.
Skiers should be equipped with appropriate off-piste gear, including avalanche safety equipment (transceiver, probe, and shovel) as well as a harness and crampons for the ridge. All the necessary equipment can be rented locally from Sanglard Sports or Concept Pro Shop, both ideally located near the Aiguille du Midi lift station.
Conditions can vary significantly depending on weather and season so skiing with a qualified mountain guide is essential. For more information see Guides.
